Youth Department
Who makes up the Christian youth of our churches? What are their interests, goals and aspirations? What is the future of our Slavic Baptist Churches in the US?
Each minister of the local church understands that answering such questions is part of their duty.
Although many young people lead an exemplary public life by participating in church services, there is a great number of them who need pastoral care. They do not regularly read their Bibles and pray. It is our conviction that this can be remedied by establishing a network of small groups in local churches where these young people could be involved. We could have a wonderful public ministry, as David had, but the Lord was still displeased with him and Uzzah was killed. It is time for us to find ways to personally reach the young people.
Those of us who are pastors are encouraged to remind pastors to spend time with their children in Bible reading and explaining the faith. It is the direct responsibility of fathers.
We can clearly identify some dangers for the young people today. These include computer games, stolen time by modern telephones, social networks and other such appliances, and visiting pornography sites which ultimately leads to fornication.
One of our challenges is the fact that the majority of our young people are switching to English as their main language of communication. We should seek God’s wisdom in answering this challenge.
